Taking Back Sunday is a band I will make an effort to see more than most, and that I have seen more times than I can count. There is one song that is the motivating factor for this, a song I continue to keep on all my playlists, and never skip when it comes up on shuffle. There are few songs as satisfying to me as “Cute Without the ‘E’(Cut From the Team)”, and I can’t quantify exactly why that is. I am someone that listens to music for sounds and melodies, and is largely unaware of the lyrical content. When the first few notes hit, I can feel myself smile as it tickles a particular part of my brain. The lyrics don’t particularly resonate with me, and I’m not entirely sure their underlying meanings. I do, however, know that nothing can compare to singing the words of the bridge amongst an audience of your peers, with half the crowd following the vocals of Adam Lazzara, and the other half following those of John Nolan. And though it is this song off their first album that hits the hardest for me, they are a band that continues to make music that I can play over and over.
