Man Overboard was a band that I started listening to in college. Based out of New Jersey, they considered their Philadelphia shows hometown shows. It was a band that I didn’t share with anyone, at a time where I had fewer and fewer friends willing to come along to experience the kind of live music I enjoyed. Man Overboard are one of the first bands I remember seeing alone. I had bought two tickets to see them at the First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia, in hopes maybe someone would be able to join me. With each ticket only costing ten dollars, it wasn’t a huge loss when no one could come. It was a colder winter evening. As the show ended, I quickly walked back to my apartment in University City, just next to 30th Street Station, by myself.
