Chiodos is a band that surprised me. For a while, I was keenly aware of their existence, and tried to listen to a song here and there but never particularly enjoyed the music. On March 24th, 2007, Becky, Mary and I were lined up outside of the Electric Factory, with the intentions of seeing the band the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, one of Becky’s favorites, on the Take Action Tour. While we were in line, the news broke that RJA would no longer be able to perform that night due to the illness of the lead singer. Instead, it was announced that Chiodos would close out the show, driving in from another tour that they were opening in New Jersey. I never intended to see them live, but it’s all it took for me to start paying attention. I’m pretty sure that that night they played “To Trixie, From Reptile With Love”, a song that would become my favorite of theirs, but a song I would never again see played live.
